Well 2 1/2 months later I have a 235 running like it did 8/9 years ago! Rebuilt the updraft carb (major), went through the fuel system start to finish. Ignition, air, and cooling systems also. I was almost heart broke a few weeks ago when the compression was 25,37,35,65,30 and 42 but I read up on Stovebolt and started pouring Marvel in the spark plug holes and on the rockers, lifters and valves. Day by day the compression grew until six days later I had 63,112,92,101,94 and 92. I finished the carb, fuel pump, fuel lines and choke cable. Turned her over the first time tonight and I let off the button too soon when she tried to fire (shock). Flooded her the second attempt (nerves) and she started right off on the third try. I let her run about 20 min staying at 170 degrees, no oil pressure (tubing leaking) and water pump seeping (not surprising for being dry for so long). I'm thinking of running her a couple of more times with the quart of Marvel in her and then changing the oil and repairing the oil sender and other little problems. What other advice do you guys have??? The next step I have planned are the brakes and a seat! I have a great running 261 as well but I wanted to run this engine until I have all the mechanics done and pull the cab for body work and paint. NO SMOKE!

knuckleskinner, I can see your smile from S.C. Sometimes things just come together without doing it at least 3 times. Glad its running. Keep us posted. I like to hear good things once in a while!!!

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
