Tango,
It has a 350 with a 4L80E tranny with a 5.38 gear in the rear end. should have enough power and cruise down the road at 65 all day. the chassis and running gear is from an 2003 GMC W4500HD. That was the last year gm put a 350 in anything.

Mighty Sweet ride you are assembling there...please do keep the pix & updates coming. Just curious...are any higher R & P sets available for that rear end?

there are higher and lower R&P sets out there for it. look for any salvage yard that deals in isuzu npr/gmc w4 trucks and you can find a bunch of different ratios depending on what the truck was set up for.

I've toyed with the idea of using that frame in a swap. What size rims and tires are you using? Those don't look like the cookie cutter 16" that most NPR's seem to wear. I think a big truck needs big wheels and tires to fill out the wheel wells.

The tires are 9r-22.5 The bolt pattern on these trucks is the same as the 56-59 chevy 2 ton trucks. 6 on 8.75 I changed the studs to american thread so I could get correct lug nuts. I also found a set of alcoa aluminum wheels. I should have all the alcoa wheels on soon. I was mocking up the bed tonight....more fabrication

I just spent a hour looking through your pictures. I can't imagine how much time you've spent doing the work, and I've worked in the body buisness for 30+ years. Very impressive, and all done in a two car garage!

Thanks bobd, I have a few hours in it. Most are from 8pm til about 1am then off to work at 6 am. It was 5 am when we got done spaying it last Thursady. My brother has an autobody shop and just outer body paint and setting it on the chassis was done there. I wish I had a bigger garage though. The wife wont let me buy a building because she won't be able to monitor my truck hording disorder. I have been messing around with body work since I was 12.

I have that same disorder, like alot of us. What I really wish I had was your ambition. I seem to concentrate more on the hording, than on a single project. Again, very impressive.

I've been told that I do pretty good for being an accountant.....Tuesday at work they were having trouble with a machine and they came and got me to trouble shoot it. 10 seconds after walking up to the machine, I knew what was wrong with it and how to fix it. The maintenance manager calls me his 8th and 9th maintenance man.

Looks great in paint.
I've seen other people "build" stuff like that too, but it never looks like the factory made it. Yours does...

I've been starting to look into a newer rear diff for my '52 to get rid of the low geared 2 speed. I was thinking a later model IH with hydraulic brakes but I haven't gotten to measuring the spring width yet. I'd really like to get 22.5 aluminum wheels on it.
