For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 253 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 253 | I picked up a pair of clutch and brake pivot bushings from Jim Carter for my 45 1.5 ton truck. I have the assembly off and haven't had a chance to take a hard look, just a quick one at dirty parts but I didn't see any sign of bushings. Are they worn away or is the idea here to over bore the hole in each pedal and then install the bushing to bring the clearance back to tolerance?
Anybody done this before and clue me in?

They are sometimes so thin you can hardly see them, and sometime they may be worn completely away on about half of it. Sometimes these replacement parts need to be reamed a bit after you put the bushings in.... oh, and if it has bushing a tip to putting them in is to put them in the freezer for a while and they will usually drop into the pedal holes...then fit them to the shaft. .... all this is my opinion. Maybe someone will come along that has one like yours. Hang tight. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 253 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 253 | Thanks for that! I'm pretty sure the assembly is identical to the ones used in the 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks.
I like the tip about the chilling the bushings to shrink them!
