Is it to hold the bolts tight? There are little bent clips at the bolts.
Mine are total junk and rusted out. Do I need to replace?

FYI - You can get 2 1/2" manifolds for your 283 a Orieley's for around $70 each. They are made in China, but seem to be a good piece to use to open up the exhaust. They are modeled after the early 60's corvette manifold. | | |

If you tighten the bolts down good they stay. If you want an original look then you would want to find some new ones. I also don,t use the gaskets that come with the sets. They will get you in trouble. That sounds like a good deal on those manifolds. The original ones are very rare. You wouldn,t need them on a 283 unless it is hopped up pretty good.

Torque these bolts. Don't over tighten them. | | |
