Just a few questions. Is your GMC made in Canada? If it is, you may well have a 235. If it's a low pressure engine, it won't be worth much, in fact, I took mine to the scrap yard. How do you know it's the original engine? Lastly, do you know the condition of the engine? Just a few variables there, but as mentioned, check what others are fetching. Good luck with it.

By low pressure engine, do you mean splash lubricated vs pressure lubricated? This particular engine has the partial flow oil filter, and an oil pressure gauge on the dash that works when it's running. You might want to drive it around with the old engine first, before you yank it out.
For what its worth, I bought a complete 216 in Langford for $75. I was told it was running, but never checked it out, as I just wanted spare parts to keep my truck running. It came with gauges, and a few starters and generators too.
If you post up some pictures, and do a compression test, and see what the oil pressure is when the engine is hot (running for say 20min), and see whether it smokes, you'll have a better idea. Someone might be interested in the engine just to use as a "runner" if its not smokey, etc.

Once it is pulled and put up for sale, the value is nill. And, in my opinion the truck value is diminished. Unless, of course, the truck is hotrodded or resto modded. | | |
