I need some advice about parts for my 1959 viking. I found a guy in the next town over that has several old trucks laying around that would work for me. I stopped and asked him if he would like to sell a few parts. He promptly said no, I thanked him and went on my way. Now he has taken a gas axe to them and is just randemly chopping them up. Do I stop by again or just leave him alone?

As long as he doesn't turn the ax on you, I don't see why it wouldn't hurt to ask again. You might want to ask about taking the whole truck though.

Or maybe offer him more than he is getting for them in scrap. Just a thought. Sounds like you would have to make it as hassle free for him as possible.

Seems to me that if you offer WHAT he's getting for scrap,that should close the deal,since that saves him the cost of transporting 'em as well as the consumables to cut 'em up. No sense spending extra money you can use for parts and gas.

Thanks for the ideas I'll try asking him about the whole truck. I took my son to B-ball tourny this weekend and did a little resaerch about this guy and found out a jug of whiskey might help my cause as well. Thanks

Good luck, you'll need it. I've dealt with idiots like this before. The trucks they are cutting up for $50 each, they'll want you to pay $5000.
