Ive been tossing the idea around of getting some adapters made to fit the 22.5 (big rig) wheel on my 52 2 ton. Has anyone done this or would anyone be interested in some if i could get them done for a reasonable price?

So are you going to take some 22.5 open center wheels and weld them to center of your old wheels. If so, I have done this on a brake drum lathe. I had a bunch of 8.25 open center wheels. If I were to do it again, I would probably use 7.50 wheels, but I sold all of them for salvage quite a few years ago.

I was talking about the aluminum adapters like the guys are using now days to put the 22.5 on thier one ton duallys. This would allow me the put aluminum 22.5 on my truck. i know some people want to stay with the stock look, but i figured a few may be interested in these.

I've looked at it before as well have others, there may be an old thread about them.

In my research (even made up an auto-cad drawing to see how it might work)there just wasn't enough room to make it all work without seriously offseting the wheel for the thickness of the spacer.
It works on 8 lug pickups because the 8 lug pattern fits well inside the big 10 lug wheel center. Not so with our 10 lugs on 7.25" pattern.

No reason you can't look at it again, you may come up with a workable solution that suits you.

Makes since. Will probably be more touble than its worth. Prob easier to do an axle swap and get better brakes in the process. Maybe in the future.

Have you checked out the disc brake thread, sticky at the top of the big bolts section?
In that I outline a way of keeping your original 2 ton I-beam and swapping newer spindles and disc brakes.

No. I wish I could follow through immediately with everything I think about.. it's confusing getting back into a project only when time allows here and there and remembering everything again.

I don't know what your bolt pattern is, however, there are 22.5's out there for just about any bolt pattern, starting w/ late '50's trucks when tubeless tires first came out.

'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

I contacted a guy that runs the www.americanforcewheels.com website and he custom makes wheels and adapters and he is very familiar with the issue we have. He said a set of adapters would run about $850 for a set and that would allow for the modern wheels to be mounted. I didn't want to pull the trigger on that. i eneded up getting a set of the original 22.5s and having them powder coated. Then mounted fairly new 9R22.5s on them.

Here is a pic of them:
