Very cool

Did you have some flashbacks after so long?

enjoyed your pics. That is a what comes to mind when I think of a California Truck.
We had the same mirrors and rear bumper back in the day.

Enjoy
It only gets better

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

It been a long process that started 22 years ago... Like many here time and $$$ prevented progress... The biggest factor was the forums help and resources... My father was a great resource for these old trucks, for he was an old school mechanic... Before he passed away five years ago he gave the 54 to me...

Update: checked my points and distributor cap, points were a little tight so I reset them ( Dwell is 36 ), the cap had a fry mark on one of the studs , cleaned it... Noticed that the heat riser on the manifold was staying open, fixed that... It runs better now... Got to learn how to drive it with the Hrydra-Matic, getting easier each time I driver it on the roads... Might need some transmission linkage adjustment so it shifts better... It seems it shifts through the first three gears pretty fast... Even if I have it in the 1-3 range... Other that that, it only stalled once today when I took the wife for a ride... When we got back home she said " now that was an experience " !!!

My first drive in my '54 I ran out of gas...lol I drive mine year-round and I always have folks talking to me, giving me high-signs on the road, honking horns, waving and taking pics. Love it all.

As I grow old I find I'm glad I lived in a time when "common sense" was... common.

Great tribute to your Dad, he would be very proud of you. There aren't too many better feelings than driving an old truck and the smiles from people who's memories come back to them when they see you. Good Job, man.

Thanks for all the comments... Drove it last night for the first time, all the lights worked fine, generator kept the lights nice and bright... Most of the bug issues are resolved...
