So, after seeing some pictures on occasion of the cool old tyme grill and radiator guards, I thought it might be nice to see them in one place.

If you've got a Smash-Hit, or other guard, I'd like to see it. I really like these, and if I don't happen upon one, someday I'd like to build one, 'cause I think they look so cool. They are so unlike anything made today.

(I tried searching to no avail for this before I posted, if I missed an old thread you know of, feel free to point me there.)

Thanks.

Not all of these are for the AD trucks, but since you want to see grille guards why not include these?

Tim, the MAN is keeping me off your site again! Darnit! (I'm not complaining to you, I just like saying the MAN)

I had a few moments, and searched around the interwebs here.

Here's an ad for the Smash-Hit

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd45/HomeCrafter/IMG_7501.jpg

I've never seen one in real life, and I'm shocked that the ad says they are solid 1" cold rolled steel. It must weigh a ton, and would take the bounce out of the front end!

And here are a couple on AD trucks. One of these Gmoniz already posted, but here it is again.

I've got a NOS big bolt guard like the yellow truck has.
Don't have any pictures of it though and it's not on a truck.

Here's the one that came with my truck. Looks like the one shown on the Chevy flyer posted in this subject.

Now that is one pimped out panel truck! Deluxe trim, signals, sweet guard. What a machine! Probably has a hat holder inside for that fellow in front, maybe even the umbrella holder!

These are stills from that (is it '48?) Chev film right?

It is from the 1951 dealer film on truck accessories. I have over 300 filmstrips from 1930-1962 that I am slowly converting over to CD's

The way people drive in your town Christopher, I can see you would need one! I know, I live there too.
