Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls:
I have joined this circus by purchasing a 1946 Art Deco 6400 off a farm in Loma, CO, in October, 2011. It now lives in Portland, Oregon. After getting it home I found it had a later model 235. As I intend for this to be a working truck that is a bonus. The rest of the drive train is original.
I found this gem while driving home from rerigging the theatre in Grand Junction High School this summer. I saw it, then told myself "no way," but when I got all the way back to Portland I knew I had to call the guy selling it and get more information. I was hooked. I drove back loaded it on a borrowed trailer and we are home (with a giant assist from my brother-in-law, Byron Smith).
It was last titled in 1975 when it was still used as a dump truck. Only through the incredible help I have found on this site did I decode the various numerical codes I have uncovered to find it was built in Norwood, OH, with a Flint, MI, engine. From the days when America proudly made things! It is with those workers in mind that I intend to restore it to a working truck, as "stock" as possible. It will never be in a car show but with continued help from this site and my own tenacity it will again be on the road in 2012! More pictures soon. I NEEDED this truck. Ya' know?

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

You bet. That, as yet unnamed, truck and I got up at 3:30AM in Payette, ID and I trailered over the Blues to home today. I had to do something when I got home so I pulled the seat out to discover it has been home to many mice for many years. Step One: sanitize the cab!
Happy to meet anytime, Mark
