Im looking forward to sharing in the online truck community here and I'm sure I'll have questions on the way as well. I'm a Pennsylvanian that is stuck in Georgia playing army in the Atlanta area. My truck (and other old toys, all ramblers) is up in PA but I try to work on them yet.
I'm pretty excited about my truck project. It is a 1937 Chevy ton and a half I picked for a few hundred dollars... or at least most of one. I have the cab (needs roof and I just picked up a seat riser/floor pan) and the doors and engine compartment and the frame (which is pretty solid) and two wheels. It has a 56 Chevy straight 6 that turns over but I haven’t seen it run yet. The truck also seems to have its original transmission, however, it has a PTO and I’m not sure if that was standard or if it implies it is from another vehicle. The cool thing is I did get some of the back story on the truck. 1936 saw huge snow fall in the north east and the 2nd major Johnstown (Pa) flood killed many people and caused a lot of damage was caused by the snow melt. A beer distributor in Johnstown lost his business and used the insurance money to get each of his two sons started on their own beer distribution. This truck was purchased with that insurance money as the delivery truck for one of the sons. I know it’s not the story of the year, but I always love to know what brought about something existence.
My intention is to spend a few weeks this summer getting the cab put together and then slowly work on the rest till I have a running usable truck and then worry about the details. I plan on making it a flatbed and using this truck.

First Thank You for serving our country and secondly Welcome to the Stovebolt. This is a great community of truck guys and gals.

Since this is the Welcome Center it would be best to ask your questions in the more appropiate forum for the best results and answers to your questions. There is even a forum for the BIG BOLTS as your truck is a ton and half. Check out the forums and you'll be amazed at what you can learn and find out. You may even want to use the swap meet for finding, or to sale, parts you need. Just be patient and give the guys a day or two for them to "check in" and help you.

Its nice you have the 37 model to. No wood,in the cabs, to worry about as in the earlier models.

Good luck and post us a pic when you can.

Thanks for the welcomes! I don't have many pics (and what I have are horrible cell phone pics) and as you can see it's truly a project and the truck is in several pieces. The pictures where taken as we got the truck home. Far from ideal, but nothing I can't handle with my friends(the two guys in the picture) and a few beers.

Thanks for the pics, Frantz! Hey, all it takes is somewhere to start, and you've got that. It'll come along with patience and work. smile Keep us posted, take plenty of pics as you go, and ask when you have questions.

Wow, it sure is nice to know there's another '37 1.5 ton joining the ranks! grin

As a country boy it pains me to say I am in north Atlanta. But my truck is up in the woods of Pennsylvania.

Looks like you got a good project there! It might take more than a couple beers before you're finished! chug

Good news! The state funding for my instructor job is all messed up so I've been out of work for 2 months! How is this good? It's forcing me to move. Back to Pennsylvania and I will get to work on my truck! I will still be a long process because of funding, but I have full access to the shop it's parked at, 2 hours from where I am living, so only parts, not labor cost!
