I have a 1941 Chevy loadmaster. I swapped the 41 235 for a 54 235. The only thing I'm having truble with is finding a gas pedle with the rod because the 41 rod is longer then the 54. Anyone know how I can find one or can I modify the rod ??

Do you have the bell-crank that goes on the post in the block? The throttle rod from the pedal attached to one hole/arm in that bell-crank and a rod from the carburetor attaches to another hole/arm on the bell-crank.

Here is an adjustable linkage with a swivel head from The Truck Shop. Page 84, bottom right corner. May still be too short(?) I have seen similar rods from other suppliers, possibly longer than the ones from the Truck Shop.

FWIW, my '54 rod is too short when I use a carb insulator plus 1/16" gaskets on top and bottom. I run with insulator only -- no gaskets.

That's it I doubled it back on itself a bit about and inch or so and then welded on both sides. I would suggest that since it is only 1/4" in dia it holds up that way. It also allows you to adjust it correctly before you weld it all up.

Here is a suggestion. Cut an additional 3" or 4" out and install a turnbuckle. Just cut the hooks or eyes off and weld them directly to the ends of your cut rod. You can lay them in a piece of angle iron to keep them straight while you tack weld them and then weld them good all the way round. Then you will have some adjustment and can use all the gaskets or spacer you need on your carb.

If you have all the parts and all you need to do is to shorten the pedal rod, Vern's suggestion is excellent, especially since the turn-buckle allows adjustment of pedal height.
