Well this is the third old truck I have hauled home... The first was a 1946 International; which is about half way built into a rat rod. The second was a 1956 International that I haven't done much with other then move it around. Then came my 1953 Chevy 1 ton dually! Out of the 3 I got the best deal on this one! Not free, but running, driving, and with a up to date title!

Glad you survived! That dent in the hood..is that where your wife slamed your head?
Other than the hood the body looks like good stock!.

Hey Dually, Welcome to the Bolt.
That’s a nice 53 you have there. A few bumps and bruises from the spouse is worth having a truck like that.
I see you’re from Iowa. Anywhere near the American Pickers?

Welcome, not a bad looking rig, just bang that crease back out and you're good to go.

Thanks for the welcome! The wife wasn't quite that mad... The dent is from a previous owner using the hood as a brake when the brakes went out! It came with another hood that is in really good shape, but I'm just going to fix the original one. Just concentrating on getting it safe to drive for now. The front brakes are fixed now, but the back were disconnected long ago and will need all new lines. Also going to need some new tires and wheels up front...

...and so it begins.

Keep us posted on your progress-and don't be afraid to ask questions. Just put them in the proper forum, and you'll get more advice than you'll know what to do with!

From the looks of your property, it seems like you have plenty of room for even more trucks.
