What a lot of people do not know is Jaguar had a deal with GM and used a lot of there parts in the Jaguar models, my V12 is married to a Turbo 400 trans for example which to me is kinda bringing things back home in my mind, wish me luck | | | | | Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 127 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 127 | Sounds like it could be pretty cool, but what truck is this going into? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 | If you can pull this off that should be a great running, driving truck, talk about a quart in a pint pot though. It should sound really nice too. Good luck with the 'Coventry Cat-bolt'! 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. I viewed about 6 trucks then I found this one a 1940 3/4 ton pickup very little rust no engine or trans or back axle for that fact it was a perfect candidate for the V12 which brings me up to date. I have my suspension figured out just need to decided on engine position to move my project on a level.

That one was a real sleeper! It was mated up to a Colotti 5-speed transmission and a Jag XK-140 rear axle. Of course, it ran like a Ferrari, and handled like a pickup! A straight axle and 4-wheel drum brakes didn't help, either! Not a good combination! Jerry

Are you retaining the cage as well, the Jag IRS is a fairly hefty piece of kit. Pick-ups by their design will always be prone to less traction, unless you load the sucker! 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. The main issues they had with the V12 jag was the electrical. And the rear suspension had soft rubber bushings. They make replacment aluminum bushings to fix the issue. Good luck. Would love to see it. That has always been my favoret jag. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 176 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 176 | The radiator choice will be critical electric fan or fans is a must I will be keeping the jag rear cage bolted direct to the frame same with the front suspension, one thing I am looking forward to is the wiring the XJS was a complex car and pre can-bus so there is a million miles of wiring in the vehicle this caused a few issues to say the least, I will be simplifying wiring and vacuum systems still a lot to figure out but that keeps it interesting. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 | Flickr link works for me moff....Looks like you're making good headway with the truck.

Inboard rear brakes next I have decided to leave out the rear cage and make a cross member for the diff to mount to you get to see all that engineering Jaguar techs developed and it just gives it a better look. posted a few extra pics of the differential http://www.flickr.com/photos/moff1959/sets/72157627429556918/ | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 238 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 238 | Thanks for the great photos. That looks to be a really interesting project.
BTW, the Dana manufactured differential unit that you have is quite rare on a Jaguar, most had the UK manufactured Salisbury diff which had 10 splines on the pinion, rather than your 26 spline setup.
Best of luck with the project. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 176 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 176 | Thanks Stuart, hey nice job on the truck by the way!

Sounds scary!
My wife's best friend stays in Newport News, she's a Scots lass and had never experienced a quake,so between that and tornado warnings, she's a nervous wreck! There was a tornado touched down near Va. Beach when we were there last year. I've never seen thunderstorms and rain like it.....spectacular!
The problem is she was told to listen for a sound like a freight train coming, problem is she stays about a 1/4 mile from the train tracks!

When completed you may need some track time up at Summit Point just for fun.

I just fitted my radiator of choice and now I figured out I can bring the engine and trans forward 3" should have the electric fan this weekend to confirm my measurments. Fuel injectors are away being cleaned and tested so things are coming together, keep checking the album post new pics most weekends cheers Paul | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 | Thanks for the confirmation Paul,I don't want to get too far O/T but are you having problems with Flickr?
