will a 250 bolt up to my 1950 three on the tree and mount in my truck

No, not directly. The 250 will not bolt up to the 1950 bell housing. I believe that the old tranny will not bolt to a modern bell housing without a spacer to adapt from the bore of the modern bellhousing to the input bearing housing outside diameter of the tranny.

A 3 speed of the same vintage as the engine makes the swap easier, but then you have to deal with the torque tube driveshaft and differential.

This swap is not easy, but not impossible.

The trans bolt pattern your truck has started in 1948 on trucks and is the same pattern that the passenger car started using in 1955. You can use a bellhousing for the 250 but you will still need to fab mounts.
