| | | Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 96 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 96 | Hi, I figured I would post I'm from the interior of Alaska I have just purchased my first old rebuilder a 1946 Chevy 2ton it needs a lot of work but I absolutely love the old trucks. I had actually found the truck months ago and looked at it, I knew nothing about it. He told me that the engine transmit ion and rear differential was original and needed rebuilt. I was mulling it over while keeping an eye out for what was available. Eventually I found the guys number again and after calling the guy I drove in with a buddy’s trailer to pick it up only to arrive and no one was around and the truck was blocked in with firewood. So we left and my buddy that went with me needed to get some stuff done so I went to drop him off and halfway home, a 45min drive, I get a call from the guy saying he had a problem and had to run to town. I told him I was interested in the one (one of 4 or 5 that he had) he had behind the woodpile and he told me that was fine to come look at it so I dropped off my buddy and picked up another friend who came in with me and after moving the wood and lots of yanking with his fork lift we got it free (minus a stuck rear tire) and onto his trailer where we started talking and realized that I'm the screener at the courthouse that has to pat him down every time he comes in. He also told me he had a 235 engine that was brand new (He is a very trusted and talented mechanic in the area) well we get it home finally after realizing it was bigger than it looked in the snow and I parked the trailer to roll it off and after some girly screams when the straps holding it broke and it started to slide uncontrollably then many profanities as we come-alonged it with the seized wheel back to the place were it sits now.
