Anyone know if the gills are the same for pickups through 1.5 ton? Been told the only body difference was the fenders but not from a reliable source.

The 47's are different, but that's a completely new body style too so I don't know.

Hey Chris --- thanks a ton (and a half)! That's what I was hoping to hear. Should make finding either parts or a full chrome grill just a tad easier.

Roger the "Spendy". And I have heard that most of the re-pops are a lousy fit. Anyone here have any experience with them?

Tango, your grille looks pretty straight, why not send it out to get chromed? I am going to try and get a quote for mine, I'll let you know what I find out.

Tango, no experience with your model but about the "repops" I an attest that most of them are much much thinner metal and lighter weight in general...right down to the bolt kits.

Some of the fit problems comes from years and years of these old trucks being twisted and banged up while working the fields crossing over terraces and small gully's. So, its not unusual to have to finess them to work. (I just did my 52) but the quality sucks!

Now, the one I got for my 37 was pretty good but hey, when you pay for stainless steel you surely expect it to be better.
In both my cases I would have had then chromed but they were banged up.... or missing, AND finding a REAL chrome shop around here is almost impossible unless you drive many miles.

I have seen some of my friends and some bolter buddies pay from $450 up to $650 for the big 46's style grilles. It amy also depend on what part of the country you live in.

Many thanks to all for the input. May well end up chroming what is there. We still have a few shops here in Texas that the EPA hasn't managed to close down (yet). At the rate things are going, we may all be shipping all our plating work to China. Just need to get a closer look to see exactly what I have to work with. I will see it for the first time in person this coming Saturday (more pix will follow). I am so pumped!!! .

Just hope I come back the same way!
