Googling has given me some conflicting results, such as "235s are longer than 216s", and "the blocks are all the same size", but I can't find any actual numbers for length, width, height. Length from the back of the block to the front of the crankshaft pulley is probably the critical one for me. Can anyone point me to a reference, or go out in the garage and measure one for me? Your critical dimension, from the back of the block to the front of the crankshaft pulley, is about 31-1/4", on a 1961 261. The water pump and fan will add a couple of inches, depending upon the use of a short or long water pump. The height from the bottom of the oil pan to the top of the carburetor air horn is about 30".
