Just a little tip to clean up the work bench.
My “big old wife” used up the last of her 1.7oz. Clarins “Crème Douceur Jour” (that be gentle day cream for us mechanics). So, like I always tell her, these fancy pump dispensers are designed to leave half the product in the bottom once the pump quits pumping to sell more product. So, the Scotsman in me took over, and determined to get the last of the product out of the jar, I proceeded to pull it apart. And surprise, surprise, that sucker was 99% empty. It has a piston below the product and is well made with a strong spring loaded one/way valve arrangement and it really comes apart in a non-destructive manor.
I let her wipe the last of the remaining product out with here index finger and then washed the whole thing out with some hot water.
Next I got the grease gun out, which was loaded with F&F Mystic High-Temp-Multi-Purpose #2 Chassis Grease and loaded up the container, reassembled it. Now, when I’m assembling a project on the work bench and want just a “little dab” of grease I get it with out hauling out the grease gun, which is usually dripping from all of the openings after setting in the grease bucket for a month.

Neat idea, though, recycling at it's finest!

Yeah, got a daughter working on here masters in enviromental science so I gotta come up with some way of recycling to keep here out of my hair.
Now all I have to do is talk my self into getting back to recycling those trucks that have been sitting for the last six or eight months.

Neat idea Denny. I'll be curious about how the petroleum product reacts with the plastic parts of the pump over time. Meby ya should patent the idea & become a millionaire.

I was thinking the same thing Richard, I've had pumps that froze up when I tried using oil in them, time will tell. Mama just told me not to expect another one of those dispensers for the barn, her girl friend gave her that goop for a birthday present and said that little 1.7 oz. jar cost about fifty bucks......
I was at Harbor Freight the other day picking up a couple of electrostatic Fly Swatters, never mind, that's a whole nother story, but I saw a little 3 oz. mini grease gun item 93486, which I thought would be handy for just the same purpose, that is on the bench for just a dab of grease. Got it home and come to find out they didn’t put a spring in it. The instructions on the side say to push the plunger up from the bottom with a blunt object like a screw driver. Another Chinese piece of crap, maybe I should patent that for use as a grease dispenser.

And Dave I know your just a sprout so you're much to young to remember Brylcreem but I actually was a user when I was a teen and wore my hair in a DA like Elvis and the greasers of the day. Had the Levis, engineer boots and car club jacket to boot, ahhh, those were the days, a real rebel with out a cause.

Yeah, Denny, that's me..just a sprout. A 68 year old one however and still a kid at heart. I too had had all those accouterments (is that a word?) as a lad except the engineer boots which I hated. Always liked the c'boy boots better. My stuff included a 49' Harley and a 40' Ferd when I was in HS. I didn't have to watch Happy Days to learn about that time, I waaas the Fonz. Brylcream was standard issue in my outfit. I remember my mother carrying on about the stuff getting on the pillowcases. So I too was a greaser before greasers weren't cool.

Hey Chipmunk. I still have hair...find some on my pillow every morning! Can they really transplant that stuff?

I don't throw anything away Dave, save that stuff you find on the pillow, they may be able to replant it one day, that is if we live long enough. Yeah, about the time I discovered that the girls had become woman, the engineer boots were replace by Wellingtons and Clark Desert boots, I still wear them both today, the leather jacket became a red windbreaker. I'm afraid my 60 year old relationship with Levi's my may be ending soon, the last few years the quality of them has dropped off to a point the they don't fit, the zippers don't work smooth anymore. And I don't have to grease down my mop anymore, I'm dapper anough for my "Big Old Wife".

Well Denny if you can still hold up your levi's then your doing OK. I don't have enough [censored] anymore to fill them out. Somehow it has shifted upward and swapped sides. I now find that old fashion Lee's are a much better fit with suspenders, HA. There is so much room in the rear of my jeans these days I can't wear my wallet in the back pocket 'cause it swings around and might hit someone..or throw my back out!

Ahh Harbor Freight.I enjoy walking thru their store once in a while for a few good laughs.

Suspenders, my "big old wife" got me a pair for Christmas a few years ago but I just refused to take the hint, just tightened up the belt a couple of notches for now.
HF, yep we're laughing at them now but just wait a few more years. We laughed at the Japanese after the war in the 40's and 50's but look at who we buy our electronics, cars, machine tools frem and where our banks borrow their money from.
Be careful who you laugh at, might they might just turn around an bite you one day.

Denny, get you a RED set of suspenders......they'll match mine I like not having to tighten the belt so much. It gives me plenty of room and makes you think your losing weight!!

Neat idea for the reuse of the “Crème Douceur Jour” bottle. You might want to get the SHARPIE pen out and re-label it just in case someone thinks it is still the “Crème Douceur Jour” and gets a big surprise!

Probably work a lot better than that fancy fifty dollar stuff Wilber. I'm convinced this crap they sell the woman is 99% hype anyway, probably just rod-wax with some smelly stuff and coloring in it....
