I delivered three cord of firewood to a customer with my '52 2-ton last weekend. We have 20+ inches of snow on the ground and it was 10 degrees when I took off on my 40 mile roundtrip. I shot some video and I'm in the process of editing it. The week prior we had temperatures in the minus 20's. My old dumper fired right up. I shot video one morning when it was six below zero. I'll get that on also.

Looks sweet. What did you do mount 2-ton axles under a regular 1/2 or 3/4 ton rig?
Personally I try to keep my old rig off the snow. I just finished the restoration on the cab and don't want the salt getting to it. I did have it out in the snow to move a couple weeks ago. It did extremely well as far as starting running and traction but I also found out the heater switch was broke and my windshield wipers fell apart going down the road. Personally I thought that was a pretty good first run. During the restoration I had the entire cab dismantled, the rearend out and pig disassembled, installed an overdrive unit and I was testing it all for the first time during my move in the snow.

Farmer, this is a 1966 C50, the bed was made by a guy at some point in the truck's life. It is made from steel plate and has '66 fleetside bed sides welded to it. Whomever did it, really did it right because it looks like a factory installation.

I was happily surprised at how well it handled the snow, especially in the stopping department.

Not lucky enough to get snow around here, and 'Tater was suffering from a dead charging system when we did get some. Bummer! I was hoping to test fit my chains, hook my tow rope to the pintle, toss the end in the box, & go make some money pulling idjits out of the ditch. grin Your truck would be great for that!

Freq, ol' Goliath had to pull my 2008 F250 out of the damned driveway the day after the storm. It was stuck on a weenie patch of ice. Kicked the big guy down into low and it pull the Ford like a kid's toy!

I've been lookin for a truck like Goliath to modify for trailer hauling, that's a nice setup with the custom bed. Looks like ya dropped a little truck on a big ol frame.

I guessed 73 because I couldn't see any side marker lights from that angle. I thought that other thing was just there to keep the barn from blowing away. grin grin

48bigtrucks: Nice collection of big old rigs. The condition is the way I like 'em. I'm drawn to the weathered and worn and never look twice at the trailer queens or hot-house flowers. The F800 is my favorite.

I'm not necessarily a Ford guy, but I do think that F-800 is cool! And I'll bet it gets the job done!

Been lookin for a plow rig like that, figure it's one more thing I can use 'Tater for, not a lot of haulin biz in the winter anyway.

If we had snow I wouldn't be out there in a rig with duelies.
I tried it once and the result was what I thought....nothing gets stuck quicker than a duelie on snow.

To play in snow I use a 4x4 with a locker in the differential, riding on some big lug tires, with added weight in the rear.

What's funny, in my expereince pulling people out of the ditch on snowy days, it's the folks in 4x4's that get stuck the fastest & hardest. Those guys I charge extra, mostly because they are harder to get out of the four holes they neatly dug in the snow.

Now my favorite snow toy was this Delta-3 tundra truck. I got to drive it right after a 3- day storm left a metric butt ton of snow on the ground. That particular one was custom built to be a fire truck, so it had a much better motor and was faster than the smaller Delta-2. Either of 'em was a lot of fun to drive tho! grin Lots of other fun snow toys I got to play with in Antarctica, but those were the favorites.

Well, I've got the best of both worlds, duallies and 4 wheel drive. With the grader blade the hydraulics and all the plate steel, this truck weighs 13,000 lbs. empty. It's unstoppable in snow,

Not a big bolt... but still it's big guys playing in the snow.

My brother came along with his chevy -55 and immediately I had to dig out the Galaxie from my garage and go over to his house.
