Alright guys I have been here a few weeks but failed to formally introduce myself. My name is Walter. I am an aircraft mechanic by trade and car/truck nut by choice. Happily married with 2 wonderful babies! I am restoring/rodding a 53 1/2 ton Chevy truck. This is my second 53 although I did nothing but flip my first (bought for 419-sold for 1500 a week later smile ) This truck was a started resto and I have discovered a few things like a 12 bolt rear from a 67-72 chevy truck, shoty fiberglass cab corner repairs, almost some bucket seats and lots of bondo. Needless to say I am undoing alot before i can do anything. my goal is to end up with a modern and sweet daily driver with mods and updates that will last long enough for my son to enjoy (in 16 years!)....and happily another TX member.

here are some pix:

Looks like you've got a real good start. The truck really doesn't look that bad, but neither did my panel till I pulled the stuff off then....UGH!!
Thanks for the pics and let us know if we can help.

its actually really good, all four fenders are going to be re-used and are in really good shape, all bed sides are good, but i bought a replacement original tailgate, The doors are solid but I need new vent window assy's and I need running boards..the ones I have are rusted chrome, I want painted ones. I plan to replace the fire wall with a 350 friendly one (mine has a lot of holes in it) and the forward half of the floor will be swapped its not too bad but why not...and inner forward cab corners will have to go. as well as outer rears other than that shes good!

Welcome to the Bolt!
Who owns all those other old cars in your pictures? Are those yours too?

Hi Walter and welcome to the bolt.
Would you believe I have a couple of pictures of your truck?
When my wife went to her job orientation in Temple, TX for VA clinic nurse, hubby snooped around the salvage yards and ran across the one where you bought your ride. I walked all around the yard with my camera and shot a collection. When I saw your pictures, did a double take and I had to check... SWEET! wink

Good luck and have fun with the project.
You came to the right place for info and great friendships!

The yard

Rich, here is a link to the yard's website (the place is near Belton, Tx).
It was a pretty cool place to visit and they were nice to let be browse all around and take pictures.

Hey Rich,
Those are not my projects and as hellomrwilson said It is a cool antique yard in belton tx. They have a few names I know them as Little Valley Auto Ranch. Dan (the owner) is very nice. I spent the day down there at his swap meet he throws 3 times a year. After which he invited me and my friend to dinner with him and a group of vendors from the meet. He is a quality guy with lots of projects at different stages, not to mention he has LOTS of parts!

Hey hellowmrwilson
Thats crazy eh? how weird is that. its funny really. yep thats my truck and shes undergoing some extensive surgery before she will be out on the road again! He had it listed for 2350 and we agreed on 1900 and I happily trailer-ed her home. I will be sure to keep the pix coming as they are generated
