I got the bed assembled and the sides mounted on it, also the tailgate. Now all I have to do is paint the fenders and mount them and the running boards and it’s finished!

Presently it’s back inside up on jack stands as I replace the steering box (too much play in the old one).

Just the stock axle. ECI disc brake conversion kit. 1977 Camaro rotors, calipers and pads. Upgrade tie rod ends. Everything else is stock 1939 GMC.

Got the rear brakes on today. My, aren't huck brakes fun. New brake lines installation in progress. Grill removed for rust removal. Frame readied for paint. Finally got rear wheel studs removed - took alot of heat.

I got Fenton headers for a 235 modified to fit my 248. That was a fun project.

got the inner fenders on, got the lower apron attached, got half the throttle linkage attached....guages/speedo in, modified a front 47-51 door handle for the back barn door and have it all installed but one bottom latch. Two trips to Ace for bolts/screws
installed the hood hinges....I'm getting close fellows.

Got all the new brake lines on, new rear shackles on, new king pins in, frame painted,

Had my neice and granddaughter over to help me replace my turn signals, from big two sided lights, to littler "skull lights". Then swapped the wires from park to turn, now my park lights are my turn lights, and the new "skull lights" are now park lights.

Painted the windshield trim and the battery cover. That completes my painting. Now there are a few odds and ends I need to take care of before I can drive her. I need to: replace the front sheetmetal; put the doors on and the door hardware; bolt the seat down and hook up the 12 Volt Power Receptacles; install windshield, rear window and door glass; install radio radio antenna and electric wipers and wiper arms; assemble bed and install it; remove bed wood and treat the wood; reassemble wood; install running boards; have exhaust run; bolt on front and rear bumpers and finish wiring taillights and headlights and 1,000 other things. The party never ends...

I know i post this a lot but i am getting ready to go for a ride. i am fortunate mine is "finished".

I drove my '56 about 130 miles yesterday and nearly 200 today.

Finally finished installing the TPI. The wiring harness from Fuel Injection Connection made it so simple. It fired up on the first try. Gotta finish hanging the sheet metal and intall the leather seats.

Last week I was diagnosing a brake issue. I narrowed it down to the vacuum brake booster.

Then, I went hunting a vacuum brake booster for my '65 c10.

After 3 days, I finally got the right one... and then did the re-alignment dance to put it all back together.

It stops a lot better now, yay.

Atempted to replace the door weatherstrip, again (3rd time). And again, it doesn't fit right. Too mad to call the company, they might get an earfull.

Well, its time to work on the Fresh Air Heater. So, I got it apart today, blasted the parts in the cabinet and then primed and got a coat of paint on the stuff. The original color was the hammertone brown but I painted it the hammertone silver as I think it will look better with the color and a grey interior.

Now, I have the washer to rebuild the Ranco valve, and a lot of stuff I printed out off the bolt about it. So, tomorrow may, or may not be the day for it!! Sad part is I can't put it together until I find me a 12 volt fan motor. I'm thinking about hitting NAPA.... and of coarse the heater core is TOAST!!

Oh, I stated to try mount a front fender by myself but decided against it!!

Where did you buy it. I'll be making the buy soon and don't want to but it where you did.

I don't really want to say where the set I tried today came from just yet. I'm going to gve them the chance to make it right first. I actually have a suspicion that, while the part number was correct for a '55 2nd, there may have been mismarked 55 1rst parts in the package.
On the last 2 sets, the first came from Precision, the second came from Soff-Seal. Neither fit correctly, coulnd't even shut the doors properly.

I put the new differential with 4.10 gears in my '50 3800. man it sure beats the original 5.14's!

I ordered a bunch of parts, looked at the wiring diagram and made a copy of the original owners manual... Does that count??

Seriously, I learned how to operate the door lock. Sad but true. I have a long way to go.

Hey, Alvin, I got a motor from JC when we were there in Sept. I already have it installed. Now if I can ever get my engine back together. I've been cleaning and painting small parts for days. It's amazing how many small parts there are in an engine.

FWIW, I got mine ('54) from Classic Parts. Fit great and the quality seems good. We'll see how it wears over time, but overall I'm happy.

Steering box and rag replaced – what a difference! I also got the rear bumper on it and the lights mounted, tonight hopefully I will wire them. That’s if I can get home before it’s too dark!

Well i got the head off of mine today. Was thinking get some head work done, new gaskets back together and be ready to roll. HOLD ON THERE BUCKAROO...not so fast.
Pistons are shot so it looks like a rebuild. I would really rather find one ready to go in..... Gotta love these things.

put on a sway bar from cpp. it's made for a 1/2 ton but all I had to do was widen the hole pattern for the u-bolts, otherwise it was strictly bolt in. took it for a test drive, helps alot. think I'll put one of some kind on the back but I don't think the one from cpp will fit my 3800 1 ton. have to do some lookin' & measurein' at the pick n pull. it's in my webshots if you want to check it out.

I don't know the width of your 3800 but if it is like mine you might be able to mount the bar like this:

The 1/2 ton frame is 11" wider than the 3/4 ton and this presents a challenge for 3/4 ton owners to mount the bar. It can be done.

Ya see, I’m a bit of a hoarder, and besides 30 years of Airplanes, Antique Radios and Antique machine tools, I also was interested in about everything else that crossed my path. I’ve been working all this year to get the barn cleared out so, “this is what I got done on my ‘Bolt today.”

I see you have your priority's in order. With all that inventory your coffee pot is in a handy spot.

thanks for sharing the photos. it does look as if the narrower frame won't be a problem for the cpp bar but i'm running the stock axle & the pumpkin is offset quite a bit. i have one so i'll see if it works, but i've also got 1 from the front of a ferd explorer that i think will do better.

Put the weatherstripping on the panels two front doors and one of the rear doors. Will do the other one tomorrow....right after I get me a biscuit.

Ground off the old battery tray assembly, those rivets sure didn't want to give up the ghost! While under the truck noticed about 10,000 things that are rusted, and leaking. Looks like I have a 5 year project ahead of me.... Now to decide where to start... Starting to think I bit off more than I can chew. Having fun though!

Finally got the rear end wired,fitted my LED bed roll lights which are wired as turn signals.
A bit tricky to get the wires fed through the stake pocket but got 'er done!

Had to pack up early due to the 70/80mph wind gusts trying to lift the roof off Casa Stovebolt!

I'm still detailing the suburban engine. Getting closer. Today I fitted the manifold heat kit I got from Jim Carter. I wasn't really happy with the kit. It came with grade 2 bolts and no nuts. The tubes are aluminum and weren't bent. I used grade 5 bolts. I bent and cut the aluminum tubes. We'll see how long they last.

Also cleaned and installed the fuel pump. Installed the thermostat and the alternator bracket. Still have to clean the alternator. Installed the valve cover.

Almost ready to take it off the stand and install the bell housing, flywheel and clutch.

I started sandblasting yesterday and it is raining todat Soooooo I ordered $500 in parts and tools today floor pans, steps, hinge pockets, door lower pillers, front mounts....NEW clutch head sockets from snap on......$13.80-14.40 each The sockets surprised me I was expecting $30+++ each

took part of the day off but did manage to get the weatherstriping around the left rear door. All doors done now.

Oh, I did go get some new stainless screws to put the Fresh Air Heater back together....which is a bit premature as I don't have the twelve volt motor, or the heater core....yet!!

This describes my process as well. I have a idea of what to do just can't figure out the order. Is there an order, or is it better to just do things when the mood strikes?

Not so much work on my '55, but I did repair the tail lights on my '85 Blazer today. Had a socket go bad. While I was in there, installed a set of Silverstar bulbs. wow, those things are bright!
Also got the weatherstrip sent back to the company, they should get it by Monday. Hopefully, they will see what is wrong with it and get the correct weatherstrip to me.

I got the batteries out and covered 'em up for a nap for the winter.
