That completes my painting. Now there are a few odds and ends I need to take care of before I can drive her. I need to: replace the front sheetmetal; put the doors on and the door hardware; bolt the seat down and hook up the 12 Volt Power Receptacles; install windshield, rear window and door glass; install radio radio antenna and electric wipers and wiper arms; assemble bed and install it; remove bed wood and treat the wood; reassemble wood; install running boards; have exhaust run; bolt on front and rear bumpers and finish wiring taillights and headlights and 1,000 other things. The party never ends...

I narrowed it down to the vacuum brake booster. Then, I went hunting a vacuum brake booster for my '65 c10. After 3 days, I finally got the right one... and then did the re-alignment dance to put it all back together. So, I got it apart today, blasted the parts in the cabinet and then primed and got a coat of paint on the stuff. The original color was the hammertone brown but I painted it the hammertone silver as I think it will look better with the color and a grey interior.
Now, I have the washer to rebuild the Ranco valve, and a lot of stuff I printed out off the bolt about it. So, tomorrow may, or may not be the day for it!! Sad part is I can't put it together until I find me a 12 volt fan motor. I'm thinking about hitting NAPA.... and of coarse the heater core is TOAST!!

I'm going to gve them the chance to make it right first. I actually have a suspicion that, while the part number was correct for a '55 2nd, there may have been mismarked 55 1rst parts in the package. On the last 2 sets, the first came from Precision, the second came from Soff-Seal. Neither fit correctly, coulnd't even shut the doors properly.

Was thinking get some head work done, new gaskets back together and be ready to roll. HOLD ON THERE BUCKAROO...not so fast. Pistons are shot so it looks like a rebuild. I would really rather find one ready to go in..... Gotta love these things.

It can be done.

| | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 171 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 171 | thanks for sharing the photos. it does look as if the narrower frame won't be a problem for the cpp bar but i'm running the stock axle & the pumpkin is offset quite a bit. i have one so i'll see if it works, but i've also got 1 from the front of a ferd explorer that i think will do better. patched some holes today here's a link: hole patching the gorilla tape was beginning to embarrass me. was on nearly a year! if any of y'all have used it you know how good it works. keeps you from doing stuff right. denny you're certainly a very neat hoarder...........wish i was!

Today I fitted the manifold heat kit I got from Jim Carter. I wasn't really happy with the kit. It came with grade 2 bolts and no nuts. The tubes are aluminum and weren't bent. I used grade 5 bolts. I bent and cut the aluminum tubes. We'll see how long they last.
Also cleaned and installed the fuel pump. Installed the thermostat and the alternator bracket. Still have to clean the alternator. Installed the valve cover.
Almost ready to take it off the stand and install the bell housing, flywheel and clutch.

Had a socket go bad. While I was in there, installed a set of Silverstar bulbs. wow, those things are bright! Also got the weatherstrip sent back to the company, they should get it by Monday. Hopefully, they will see what is wrong with it and get the correct weatherstrip to me.
