My name is David and I am leaving tomorrow for Colorado to pick up my "new" '62 GMC Suburban 4x4 from Rich Sisneros in Crowley. I'm going to be driving back to Tennessee over the next several days and just wanted to post a general Hey! to everybody and see if anyone will be around along the way back in case I have any problems. I am heading back on I-70 through Kansas and Missouri, then down through Kentucky and back to Gallatin, TN. I'm going to be going slow and steady. The trip is about 1100 miles. Please feel free to drop me a line on my e-mail, and I will post pics of the Burb and hopefully the uneventful trip when I get back! Take your time, be safe. We'll all be here when you get back. That GMC wouldn't happen to be one with a V6 and plaid valve covers would it?? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 | Firstly David, welcome to the 'bolt. Sorry I have not posted, but came home to a very busy house and work waiting on me. Thanks to Rich to getting me on the road safe. She is a 1962 GMC Suburban 4x4. Pretty much stock except the GM 350 engine. I made it to Limon, CO the first night from Crowey. About 85 miles on a lonely 2 lane in the dark with no cell phone signal until half way, and then no signal until Limon. Nothing like a long ride to get to know how she is going to behave! Left Limon Tuesday morning and made it to Columbia, MO the first day, very tired. Seems like my ears are still ringing from the ride. Got lots of stares and a few knowing looks and nods on the highway. I also got 2 offers to buy the girl. After a check up in a local shop Wednesday morning, I hit the road and pulled into Nashville about 7:00pm Wednesday night. Slow and steady all the way home. Will have pics and more info to come! It was an interesting ride and we are just getting started on her. She will be my daily driver now and I very excited to have a new member of the family! Thanks to Rich and Joyce for the help! Here are some of Rich's first pics.. Will add more later! http://s1188.photobucket.com/albums/z405/pbear001/1962%20GMC%20Suburban%204x4/
