I am also currently looking at the Lokar stuff but nothing has caught my eye yet. I used it on the 37 and it works find but I want something different for the panel...... Stovebolters.....help us out here. What have you used. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 388 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 388 | I don't want to look at Lokar (2 steep for me) maybe the treasure yard."one mans junk". | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 649 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 649 | I can't say for certain, but I believe the one in my 53 came out of an S-10/Blazer. It bolts to the firewall and the pedal hangs. It has a cable/housing. I think most of the V6's would be possible doners. | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | Just a thought, could the linkage for a V8 Task Force truck be adapted? I know that the basic 6 cylinder linkage and pedal is similar, might be worth looking into, especially since the TF V8 linkage is available new.

It is a solid rod from the carb to a pivot at the bell housing & then another rod thru the floor board to the stock throttle pedal. Sinec I'm using the stock brake & clutch pedal, I like the idea of the stock throttle pedal.

I had it adjusted to give full throttle, this removes most of the play in the system. With the th350 in Drive and stopped at a stoplight the engine starts to increase RPM. I have to really mash on the brake to keep it stopped. Shifting to N and the engine RPM goes back to idle. This happens several times before I figure out that the engine torque is advancing the throttle. I had to back the throttle off to give some play in the linkage, this solved the problem. Just a hint if you have the problem. It is a little unnerving when the truck wants to take off on it's own. I used a kit for the conversion from a 235 to the 350. Tried the cable but converted to the rod. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 388 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 388 | Thanx guys for all your input, I guess its off to the yard for me.
I'm with you nvrdone, I have all orig. pedals so I would like to use my gas pedal I just bought from Brothers. I need to look in the book and see what they offer.

Reasons are it's cheap--$5 at a pick a part, it uses a round hole in the firewall instead of a square one like GM (much easier to make), and best of all it has the return spring built into the cable so there's no brackets to make or exposed spring(s).

When you mount the bracket for the carb end of the cable you can have mild spring pressure if you just pull the cable a short way to fasten to the accelerator or you can pull it till it coil binds and then ease it off just enough for the carb link to return to the idle screw cam and this gives maximum tension on the spring. Since it is spring loaded there is zero slack in my experience.

The spring is fairly substantial. Something else you might care to see is how the temp sender fitting has been moved to the rear water runner on the V8 so the stock AD sender tube is long enough to reach it. For the 235 guys there is a shot of the full pressure oil filter and lines. These shots are in the first row or so on my photo site http://s32.photobucket.com/albums/d41/coilover/ I just looked and there are also pictures on the bottom of the page and the next one on installing a drivers door lock on an AD.
