..... it is nothing but PIA and gets ignored because it just doesn't work. Hardest search feature I've ever tried to navigate so I will no longer recommend it. Join me in making it an real issue with the management so we can get a real one. Add your vote

I'll have to say that while at times it is PIA, I have used it successfully on occasion when I get the right search phrase for a particular topic.

It works sometimes, but like you I too am frustrated.

When It won't work I try a Google search for the word followed by site:stovebolt.com
like this
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&safe=images

Doesn't always work that well either...

If you can make a poll post, you must be pretty darn savy with the stovebolt works and know what you are asking, so you get my vote.

Geez, I hope you aren't a politician. grin grin

That's the first thing I noticed when I started looking at this site. The search engine is the worst thing I've seen. Good luck finding something.

Other than that...I love this site and it has been extremely helpful!

I am usually not one to complain but I have never ever used the search feature successfully. Maybe its because I am a computer dummy and don't know how. I sure would be open to a new easier one but on the other hand I would not want to make a lot of extra work for the good people that give us this wonderful site. Without the Stovebolt Page I would never have gotten my sub on the road. Kudos to John, Peggy and Paul and the others that make this such a valuable resource.

I agree, it's tough to get anything useful out of it. Maybe I just don't know what to search for. Dave

I think the main problem with the search engine is it is set by default to search for posts newer than one week. If you change that to search for posts older than one day you'll have better luck. It took me a while to realize this because the box is at the bottom of the page. With it limited to one week you usually get nothing in your search.

The poll results are in. 27 YES and only 4 NO about needing a new Search Feature.
I am forwarding this to the Administrators and hope they will give this the attention it deserves. Thanks to all who participated.
