For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 49 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 49 | It took about 10 months for the body work, but it is finally on the road. I took this truck completely apart and restored it. I used a 1949 parts truck to fill in the gaps. I took the 49 frame, rear end, grill and box to create a matching trailer. I also used the trailer to practice all my skills (cutting, welding, body work and painting) on first. I built my own paint booth in the garage and laid down a nice single stage metallic paint. The dark blue metal flake matches the light blue. I will be entering it into a fund raising car show this weekend. When I bought this truck, it had a blue light under the dash. It makes the cab glow in the dark, so I kept it, and named the truck, "the Blue Light Special". All my friends laugh. Every time I thought of buying a stovebolt, I thought about that truck. I bought it 24 years later, still owned by the same guy. I have owned the truck for 4 years now. When I bought it almost nothing worked on it. I did drive it home (3 miles) but it almost cost the life of my 18 year old daughter. When we went around a corner, the door flew open and she nearly flew out. For the first 3 years I got almost everything working. Still working on that speedo gear.

Nice work. Does your daughter drive it? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 90 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 90 | Very nice setup. After seeing this I think my grandpa has his father's 1950 Chevy behind his shop, I might take a look at it, after seeing this it would be fun helping him fix his up nice and neat. I like the colors, that's what I plan on doing to my 38, a two toned blue mettalic paint job. Have fun with your stovebolt! | | | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 403 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 403 | All I can say that is a Sweet setup Gary. Very nice work. 62Blue Don
