I decided to put a new tank back in my original position on my 52panel. Its between the chassis, close to the rear wheel for blocking a hit. I figure its about safe as it gets. However, I will admit it makes running dual exhaust kind of hard. | | | | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 34 Apprentice | Apprentice Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 34 | I too am wondering about a rear mount tank. The 70 Mustang tank is sometimes used on p.u.'s I would suspect it would work but do not know for sure. I am looking at a Jaz tank from speedway to put in the original location until I can afford a JC tank.

You cab get them up to 40 gallon & to install it you have to move the back brace to the rear & trim the frame about 1/2inch...joe | | | | Joined: May 2010 Posts: 33 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2010 Posts: 33 | thanks for the information. i have since been given a new long 80's chev tank and a older chev pu tank that stands along a wall. i think i may mount the older tank inside the panel above the wheel well behind the passenger then work on getting the price of two new repo originals. | | | | ZooKeeper Unregistered | ZooKeeper Unregistered | thanks for the information. i have since been given a new long 80's chev tank and a older chev pu tank that stands along a wall. i think i may mount the older tank inside the panel above the wheel well behind the passenger then work on getting the price of two new repo originals. Good luck, but I can tell you this. I have an S10 frame under my AD truck & the S10 frames are a tad wider then the AD truck frames & those long tanks won't fit....joe | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 438 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 438 | I used a tank from 83 El Camino and it fits in the cavity behind the rearend between chassis rails on my 49 Suburban The filler pipe will extend behind tire and out the fender well. If i can find the pictures I will post them.
