I purchased a heater and defroster assembly from classic Parts (#68-991A). Are the outlets attached with sheet metal screws or nuts and bolts? Nothing came with them.
The second question is whether they attach in such a way as to aim toward the firewall or toward the cab interior? I have everything out of the dash at this time and don't want to put them in one way and have to take stuff out again to do them the oposite direction.

The ones I received are plastic and have the neck bending 45 degrees and not canted off to either side. I see two small holes that can receive sheet metal screws. I will aim the necks toward the firewall.

I don't have both to compare but from looking at the pics...and at the ones I have its seems mine would "kick" toward the center of the dash rather than toward the firewall??? I ask basically this same question a while back and received a few pics from guys.... I haven't installed them yet but...from the looks of Brads pictures I have the 47-50, with the black "band" around them, on my 52 panel.... and I honestly think mine is original to the panel. They both have the black spacer band around them.

Have you called Classic Parts for assistance? As you know, the heater you bought is an aftermarket heater assembly and its parts are different from either of the GM optional heaters available in 1953. The outlets/ducts that came with the Classic Parts heater are (from what you describe) different from the outlets/ducts that are used in an original heater set-up.
By the way, the original ducts for recirculator and air-flow (fresh air) GM heaters were the same in the same years, but they were different from year to year during Advance-Design years (probably different in 54/55 due to cab/windshield change but might have been different 53-55 due to a change in fresh-air/air-flow heater?). None of the information in this paragraph is pertinent to you - Classic Parts should know how their ducts/outlets should be installed/orientated.

The guy (Adam I think) just picked one of the two positions and said "try it". Not a good answer. I had called them before I made the first post for help.
If after I try them, I may have to look for stock ones to hook the new heater up to. Then I'll have to pull out the whole dash mess to install them. Ugh!
