Does anyone know where I can get the rear brakes
relined for my 1952 Loadmaster?I have checked with my local truck shops and no one does it anymore.I would like to get new shoes if possible but cant find anyone that has them. Also on the subject of drums,I have been told not to have them turned just get thicker linings? I dont know if they have ever been turned before. What are the dimensions as for diameter and how much is too much to have removed?Thanks for any info in advance.I think the rear is a Timkin two speed.

In 1952, Loadmaster referred to the engine. For what size truck are you looking for brake shoes/linings?

Probably no reason to turn your drums unless they are scored or obviously showing uneven wear.

When I replaced the "organic" brake friction materials on my street rod with asbestos it was like adding a power booster. Also, asbestos is very easy on drums.
I live in a relatively small town in Northern California and even here there is a brake parts supplier who can still get asbestos friction. I have also found it NOS on ebay.

clutches,etc turn drums and rebuild hydrovac units. I haven't used them lately but they relined some shoes on farm equipment for me in the past.
