I had been browsing the classified ads for about the last six months or so, not quite sure what I wanted. I had started thinking ford because there were more of them out there and then out of the blue I saw my truck, drove for an hour to see it and bought it on the spot for $1500 (Canadian). It was love at first sight. The truck was temporarily put together with a handful of wood screws and zip ties. The previous owner helped me disassemble it and get the whole body into the back of my 2002 chevy pickup. Now she's home and the long journey begins. I will be here a lot for help I think, so thank you in advance for this awesome forum!

A couple of the guys ( 3B and 1958GMCnut )are also into older trucks and have a lot of information when the time comes. | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,185 Moderator | Moderator Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,185 | Hey redwelter, welcome. Hey britcon, beautiful truck, let me know when and where if you guys are getting together, I also have a buddy on the Island with a 57 chevy just in primer and headed to paint, so that makes two more for your "informal" gang, I will look forward to it. I don't know how many bolters are in B.C., is there any way to find out? And is there ever regional bolter gatherings?
Nice looking truck Jock, I will try and post some pics soon

Thanks for the kind words. It's not as bad as it sounds Red,mainly thanks to the folks here and good friends in Va. The shipping and import taxes are killer! Thankfully my truck was from So-Cal(relatively rust free) and was also pretty complete. The bigger parts are a problem though, I can get them here...at a price! I just need a tailgate and splash apron and that should be it,OH! plus wheels and tyres. The Dollar rate's not doing me any favours at the moment.... 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. If you have a gathering sometime this summer let me know. Maybe a chevy only show and shine/cruise/BBQ? I can bring a freshly stripped and primed cab corner or fender maybe. Nice looking trucks by the way.

I assume you are going to " rod " her as I don't think '34's came with disc brakes. What are you thinking for running gear and suspension ? | | | | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 41 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 41 | I am going to do a mild rod as far as the running gear is concerned, a small block chevy coupled to a four speed. The disc rotors are not salvageable so I'll wait and see what to do there. Of the sheet metal that is there, not to much to replace so that is encouraging. Even some of the cab wood is still solid! Missing the back window panel, rear fenders, front chin and lower rad shell, rocker panels, bed to running board sheet metal, the lower back wall of the cab needs replacing and the entire box is pretty much shot. Other than that she just needs a tank of gas and a VIN# and I'm good to go! I will try and keep you up to date.
