I have tried and tried and tried to get my front right brake from grabbing too quickly, and pulling to the right, but still am having a problem. Any idea on how i can get the brakes to grab evenly? I have replaced and/or rebuilt all of the components in the brake system, short of the foot pedal. All of the lines have been replaced as well. I have bled them several times and have also adjusted them as the maintenance manual calls out. All of the front end steering linkage is tight. Any help would be appreciated. I know swapping to disk brakes would be ideal, but on a budget, it's not an option.

Fix the left brake, that right one is working fine.

Make sure the drums are the same dia or near like Scott say's. Check the linings to see if they may be loose at the ends. Take a rough file or grinder & put a champher on the edge of the linings. Sometimes the sharp edges dig in. Wear a respirator when you do this. They may contain asbestes.

Did "all the lines" include the flex hoses?

Hi, check the tie rod ends for play and the rear leaf spring bolts( the ones with grease nipples) for wear. Also in the rear of the leaf spring there is a brass bushing, check it to. Check my post in engine & drive shop under brakes lock up.

Shoes are not expensive, might be worth trying a different brand.

I'm not sure of the old trucks...
but if the shoes are put on wrong...(short shoe to front, long to back is the proper way) you will have problems....
check the adjustments, bleed the brakes, check front end for excessive play.....usual suspects....

Section 5-18 in the Shop Manual is important, be sure to perform this step effectively.
