I just went and picked this up this weekend. Kinda rough, but the body seems solid and I was looking for a project. Looks like I got one.

I've seen them a whole lot rougher than that. Looks like a very good one to start on.

That doesn't look rough to me either. That rear fender with the tire mount is a highly sought after item.

Congratulations on your new truck!

Three quick questions.
How do you remove the front glass? The weatherstrip is shot and will need to be replaced anyway but the glass is good and I don't want to break it.
The floorboards are rusted out and need to be replaced. I know there are weld in replacements out there. But after cleaning out the inside I found the lower corners of the back of the cab had holes. Is there some weld in replacements for these areas as well?
The frame is rusty. I want to paint it and I have heard of POR, and Eastwood has a frame paint. I'm looking for a brush on. What's the general consensus?

I just read the post comparing the two frame paints and checked out the web site for the por. I think I agree it may be overkill to work with for my project.

There are plenty of aftermarket dealers that sell any patch panel you need. Try to complete as much of the cab body work with the cab on the frame as you can. It simplifies panel alignment issues.

Brian,
to remove the front glass just take a razor blade round the perimeter stayin as close to the glass as ya can (you will be gettin a new one anyway)..then with a helper just pop it out from the inside with a catcher (YOU) on the outside and lay it away safe on some carboard for the future.
As far as your Frame there are lottsa opinions...POR15 works great on frames ..do a SEARCH on "FRAME PAINT"...you will find lottsa opinions an info.
By the Way..NICE FIND!...enjoy your project!
Tim

I decided to order the frame restoration kit from eastwood. They have a good rep and i've ordered stuff from them before. I'm working in my attached garage and my wife can be suspicous of strange smells. I used some gunk engine degreaser on a motor and it took days for that smell to disipate.

Thanks for the advice on the glass. I want to make sure I look at all the nooks and crannies to get this cleaned up and ready for paint.

That truck is in fantastic shape. Count your blessings and the lesser amount of rust removal you wont have to do. Good truck! drive

I've used Eastwood and it's good. The Chassis Black in qts. qnd gallons can be gooey. If spraying, follow directions to cut it. If brushing have lots of brushes that you are willing to throw away after use. You'll never get them clean.

Suction caup can be helpful working with the glass.

The front floor panels are available from all the truck suppliers and one style goes back to the start of the front seat. For the rear I would ask Ray of Wheelwright Restorations if he makes them.

I cut the rubber on the inside. That way the glass lays their until you lift it off.
