I have messed with mostly newer trucks. My last was an 06 Silverado show and drive. I am getting older and wanted an older truck. To me, they are just cooler.
A friend told me about his friend who had a 57 sitting behind a shed. The daughter had inherited it after the gentleman, unfortunately, had passed away. It has been sitting for about three years. Anyway, he said he didnt have the money, so he let me have a shot. Me and my wife drove over to look at it, and the next weekend it was in my driveway.

Put it on a rollback and got it home. Ten miles from home, almost disaster. The winch holding the truck freespooled while leaving a stopsign, and luckily for me. the rear chains holding the truck kept it from falling off the rear of the rollback. BIG lesson learned.

Its a 57 big window 3100 with a 235. Original color was red with ivory (white) around the window. The plan is to IFS the front and 4 link the rear to bring it down. PS, PB, PW, and discs up front. Jury is still out on A/C. Need some feedback.
Plan on a turbo on the 235 and a 350 tranny, and not sure about the rearend.Thinking 3.08, can this be done with the original or do I 12 bolt it? Want to keep it GM, so no 9 in. More help needed. Red steel wheels with wide whites and spike lugs and centers.Plan on adding a visor. Thats a must.
Hope the old bolters can steer me in the right direction. Does this sound feasable? Am I missing something important? I never have done a total ground up rebuild, but looking forward to it.

Thanks in advance.

.... those dual hood ornaments sort of set it off! Looks like you have found one in nice shape to begin your oddessy. You may want to consider posting this in the HiPo Forum for more input. Lots of quys may not visit this section very often.
Good luck and keep us posted with updates and pics.
