Do we have a deal with Jim Carter, like a promo code or something???? I'd like to put a substantial order in tonight and a discount might help pay some shipping.

Only if You give to the Bolt and even then they did not give it to Me the last time I ordered .If You give to the bolt they give You a code # that is supose to work but it did not .My order was not that big last time and I get tired of the phone calls .

Well Pete, I do try to give back to the Stovebolt in more ways than one. Peggy might be backed up, she's a busy lady and we gotta remember this not a profit making adventure. Taint no body as busy as our hosts and we are after all just guests here. Just thought I might save enough to pay for the shipping if we had a promo-code for this month.

What I am saying is that I gave to the Bolt got the # and gave it to JC on My next order and never got the discount from them , JC , never had a problem with the Bolt I think it is great I had the problem with JC just get tired of having to follow up on stuff , like that problem You had with that fan blade.


Why would You take it I had the problem with the Bolt?

OOOK, lets do some Real Talk here.
I think Jim ask for a donation just to help the stovebolters. By donating to the site John and Peggy do not have to pull out their plastic to keep all of us going as I know they have in the past.

Now, if you noticed in the left hand top of the home page here there is a note that Classic Parts offers us a 10% discount and does not require a "code".
It would now make sense to me that Jim would turn away business to a bolter and push them to Classic Parts. I think he would therefore still honor the discount. I would also imagine "ole trucks", Mike Taylor, knows most of us anyway.

I have found Jim to be a little pricey on some stuff than Classic Parts and it takes the discount from Jim to get down to the same price as Classic. (not all stuff but some) But the next things is the shippping. Classic has a minimum shipping of about $9 and Jim only charges the ACTUALLY shipping charges.
I always told my kids to "DO THE MATH".

There are stories to be told about all the vendors and how they don't answer the phone, don't call back, don't make things right and so forth. For me, and I'm speaking only for myself, I have gotten good service from Jim, he has always been nice to the bolters and the Stovebolt. So, therefore I try to do business with them as much as possible and recommend him to others I talk to.

I might add that even with Jim, I recently had a problem. It took a little while to get it "sorted out" but it was resolved to my satisfaction and it was something that was basically out of their control. On the other hand I have dealt with Classic Parts some and they make me feel as though I should bow down to them when I call....especially one lady!! But, as I said, we all have our tales to tale but in the end we should know who is the "good guy". Heck, it may even depend on what kind/year truck your working on.
Whew, I'm through now!!!

Denny, do like Scott says, come join us in Sept. and visit Jim. You'll be glad you did.... and you can even bring your "big ole wife"

Din't mean it the way you must have tooken it Pete, must have been the way I worded it, I'm no literary genius you know. All of this is mute any way, I already place my order, don't like waiting around for a bargain. I'm already moving on to the next project.

LATE REPLY, but I entered stovebolt in the promo code box in checkout and it gave me 5% off, thanks!

I have bought a bit of stuff from JC, including my step side bed, and shipping has always been reasonable. I have just enquired about a crank hole cover for my '40 model, and was quoted $180 to get the $45 part to Australia! The Filling Station don't have them-I've also bought parts from them with no drama. Does anyone know where else I may acquire the part or how to get cheaper freight?
(If anyone is coming down under & would like to stick the cover in their pocket, I'd be happy.)

Give Jim Carter a call and ask them about shipping. I agree that $180 for something that would slip into an envelope is pretty pricey. Lots of places insist on shipping stuff to Alaska by 2nd day air, when ground shipping would be fine as far as timeframe. Some of them will ship USPS flat rate if you call and ask them. Maybe you can have them ship it to someone else in the US and ask them to mail it to you. I assume you're not in a drastic need for it. I just got an electric starter motor for a snowblower off eBay and they shipped it in a flat rate padded envelope. That took less than a week from when I placed the order.
