#56739 02/19/2006 5:45 PM | Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 254 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 254 | i got a 65 chevy truck that i'm changing to a newer mid 70's 4wd frame that has a V-8 well the 65 originally has a 6 cyl and don't think that radiator would be able to cool the 350 v-8 so what have some of you done to put a bigger radiator in it (i have to radiators out of 78 chevys a 2 core and 4 core) wondering if one of those would fit? or what radiators have others of you used (like from a different vehicle) and tips and tricks are helpful

The good thing about that kind of upgrade is that it's usually a bolt in. Joe

#56741 02/19/2006 8:32 PM | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 | I just ordered a radiator for a V-8 equipped 66 pick-up when I did the swap on my 64. Don't know why, but most parts places list only the 66 when looking up radiators for the 60-66 trucks.

#56742 02/20/2006 6:57 AM | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 926 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 926 | A friend of mine solved this problem by taking his old radiator and a good 4 core cross-flow radiator to his favorite radiator shop and having it converted to a downflow (up-flow?). He said it only cost him abour 50 bucks,and it cools GREAT. It was just a matter of moving the filler a quarter turn,basically standing the crossflow on end,and swapping the brackets from his old radiator.It bolted right in.
