Has anyone compiled a list of vehicles that would
make a good donor for swapping axles onto Chevy trucks? And if not, someone should.

The reason I ask is because I have a '95 Grand Am in my driveway that I have no use for, other than to salvage the parts. Is there any chance the axles would be usefull to put on my '52 Chevy 1/2 ton?

I will do a search of the site and web for the info but if someone else knows off hand the info would be appreciated.

Isn't that pontiac a front wheel drive? If so then it would not be a very good candidate.

There are several web sites that have the axle information. One of the most helpful is http://50chevy.freeservers.com/

I'm very happy with the '73 Chevelle wagon rear under my '55 1st. Fits under there just right. Of course I had to cut the coil and 4-link stuff off and weld on spring pads.

Joe, I guess your using a later model trans with open drive shaft. If you can find a rear end out of a 55 2nd or later that a good choice. If you plan to haul a lot of weight I'd suggest a 4:10 ratio, also you can use your 6 hole wheels.
