Does anybody know how to fasten new felt/aluminum channel into the door, for the door glass? Do I use glue or am I missing something. The old ones snapped in.

Om my 52 i used 3-M Weatherstrip adhesive & a few rivets for the install.
here is what i did.
with the door laying face down on a set of horses i formed the new channel to fit the window opening,now with the new channel attached to the mount inside the lower part of the door and the part around the window opening loose, installed my glass, now with the glass rolled to the lowest down position i put a bead of the 3-M around the frame and set the channel, then rolled the window up and layed a towel on the glass and a brick for weight to keep the channel pushed down flat against the door frame, let it set over night to cure.
Next day i rolled the window down and drilled an installed a few rivets through the center of the channel at bought 6" intervals round the perimeter and one at the end as close to the vent window frame as i could get.
That channel isnt goin NO-WHERE!

I installed mine almost same way as SW, except no rivets. Rolling up window seems to hold the channel in place OK while the glue sets.

I think the manual says to put a screw,or rivet, at the end near the wing vent....but I like Raidal's idea. At least put a couple more rivets in it just in case it, for whatever reason, it may come loose and want to sway in a certain spot.

I'm re-doing my regulator rollers, (thanks Tim) and will be putting in my window channel afterwards. I have a note taped to my shop bench that Tim posted some time ago......in that note Tim also said he stuck the window channel down into the channel guide clip, then used the 3M to stick it in the guide, let it set overnight and after it set put the channel guide down in the door. I think that is a WISE move so that when you roll the window up it will not "pull" the window channel out of the guide clip.

Originally most AD doors had two small screws at the very top of the door that go through the channel and into the outer door moulding around the window. The other ends clip into the brackets inside the door.

Thanks for mentionin attaching the channel to the inside door mount first an lettin it set up over night before starting the install.
