I recently did a swap from a 3-speed to a 4-speed and am trying to install the shifter. The top of the transmission has 2 holes on either side where it would seem 2 pins would fit to hold the shifter in place, but there were no pins in the tranny when I got it.
I tried using 2 roll pins (5/16") but they were too big to fit in the hole. 1/4" would seem to be too small
Does anyone know what to use?

They are larger in diameter inside the collar and appear to be peened over to keep them from falling in to the gear box | | |

You may still be able to order them from GM. You can also contact places like National Drivetrain, they can get them for you. | | |

I ended up having my grandpa make 2 pins on the lathe and they seem to work perfectly. I will see how long they last.
