Which company is the best?? Seems kind of general but I haven't ordered anything yet. Give me some advice & your experiences... ESPECIALLY if you did business with more than one store (Comparison). I currently have LMC, Classic, & Jim Carter.

Just by looking at the catalog I like Jim Carter the best. It seems they have the most items... little nuts and bolts ect.

Any story is appreciated

I have done business with American Classic & Jim Carter. Both are good to deal with. I have bought more with American Classic & they have treated me very good & their customer service has been excellent.

I have not dealt with Jim Carter, so I can't comment on them. However, I have done a lot of business with LMC and Classic Parts. LMC has gotten my order wrong on more than one occasion and the last order I placed with them for an upholstery kit took a month to get here. LMC does do okay, and I have had mostly good experiences with them.

Classic Parts is my go-to company, though. I have never had a single problem with any order I have placed with them and their customer service is great. They also give a discount for Stovebolt members. And their free shipping on orders of $300 is handy too (excluding oversize items).

Just so you know, in the last 6 months I have ordered about $1,000 in parts from LMC and Classic and what I've written has been what I've experienced in this timeframe.

I have done business with Jim Carter and I was very pleased with there service.

I have done alot of business with LMC for many years. They have never done me wrong. Alot of times when I need engine parts I find that it's faster and easy to buy from NAPA. NAPA seems to always come up with stuff for my 235.

Iron Clad

I'm a newbie to both this forum and working on trucks, but I have to agree with Iron Clad. NAPA, in addition to having several parts available, also seems to have more than a couple folks behind the counter who are able and, more importantly, willing to give me sage advice and guidence. You know, for those few things that I can't learn quickly on here.

Classic Parts has also been prompt with their deliveries and competitive with their prices.

I've found a number of parts at Brothers that I would like to purchase as well. They are having a pretty good sale through the end of April. However, it took a good 2 weeks or so just to get their catalog, so I'm not holding out much hope for quick parts delivery. Has anyone had better luck with them?

i have done business with most of the parts suppliers and have been pleased with their service. some small glitches. you always ask if it is available if you are in a hurry. lmc has been great and so has jim carter and jim carter give discounts to stovebolters. brothers has been a big supplier to me and i do mean big. biggest complaint is the freight factor i do not know if it is always fair that they charge on the dollar amount rather than the cost to do business. i have spent aleast $23,000 on parts and that means i have paid at least $2300.00 on delivery charges and in the case of drop ship on $1100 order cost $265.00 for freight. ron

i've dealt with a few,have never dealt with classic or lmc.i really like dealing with jim carters.whenever a problem has occured it has been handled promptly.but most times comes off without a hitch.shipping practices are very good.............dave

I did a lot of business with the old Chevy Duty,which I understand is now Classic,also Brothers and Golden State.I had good luck with all of them.

do any of these parts companies make an upper grill bar for a 39 lol i feel like tucker fenders would be easyer to come up with

A couple months ago, I tried twice to call Jim Carter to order some stuff and I never got through. I was on hold for at least 10 minutes each time and there was no answering machine, so I quit trying.

Earlier this week, I tried to order from them on-line and their catalog page numbers didn't match up with what the index said. We only have slow speed internet here, so I didn't have time to try to locate the correct pages.

I ended up buying from LMC, which has treated me well throughout my truck restoration. I have also bought stuff from Classic parts and Golden State and they were good to go. I've heard that Jim Carter is great and I hope to buy from them in the future, but it hasn't worked out yet. I'm sure they were just having a temporary glitch.

Daniel Bland: I would give JimCarter a call. I have been to his place and he has a lot of used stuff down in the basement and lots of stuff out in his back yard. Ask to talk with Mike. He's been with Jim for years and may be able to help.
