Hey guys, I just bought a 1970 heavy half w/250cyl 4 speed in it. Every thing works & I drove it home. Now I am trying to identify everything. I have the motor (250 #F0918TAB) but having trouble w/trans & rear end. Trans is not orginal, it came w/three on tree. All I can find is GM 4 casting # is 3901127 & has granny low. Not sure about the rear end, is 12 bolt NF #3896838.Any help you can give a rookie would be grateful. Thanks
Jim

Welcome Jim, this is where you can find out all you need to know about your old truck. I don't have GM's parts list but your transmission is likely a SM465. You could try asking this question in the engine and driveline forum. You will be surprised what you'll learn.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

53 Panel: Thanks for the info! I tracked down the SM465 and the S/N match. Got 2 out of three now.
