I ordered new "U" shaped brackets for my leaf springs and it came with the rivots needed to hold them in place. Can I just drill out the old rivots? Also, is heat needed to put on the new ones? Or do I just smash the rivot end with a hammer making sure the end is flush against the leaf? If so...is there special tools needed for this?

Thanks much,
~Ron

are you talking about the clip straps that rivet to the spring ? if so just grind the old rivet head off at the clip and drive it out with a punch .the new rivet just slid through the clip strap and into the spring ,there should be a recessed area on the top of the leaf ,use a hammer and pound the rivet flush .it's no graded steel .
