Look under the Chevy S-10 pickups and you will see a torsion bar suspension. I think it will provide a great ride in my 60. Ern, there are disc brake kits available as a bolt-on for a very reasonable price (much less than spending on a conversion)

As Scott mentioned above, I have disc brakes on my 60 with dropped spindles. They were on the truck when I bought it, I still have the original torsion bar suspension. They work fine and installing power steering last spring was another great upgrade.

The full size 4x4 trucks from '88-'07 (Classic only) also use the torsion bar suspension. However, they share no parts with the '60-'62, the design has its roots in the Toronado/El Dorado front suspension.
