| | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 | At x-mas dinner with the inlaws the other night my Father inlaw asks hey you have 220 in your shop dont ya ?..I said yup..he says hey swing over to my garage a buddy of mine got a new compressor and gave me his old one and im not runnin 220 to my garage..so I just picked up this 5hp Ingersoll/Rand cast iron 60 gallon tank for the price of 2 gallon of gas to get.
Now im thinkin ..Ive got my 6hp 60 gallon hooked up here in the shop ...so DO I just marry em together and have 11hp and 120 gallon for the shop? or sell one ????
PONDERIN???...I think ilL just clean up the freebie an hook em inline to each other ...LOTTSA AIR!

Great free find! Be sure to do some homework on plumbing them together if you go that route. To keep from fighting each other and cycling constantly, they need to be set differently...lead/lag or some such techno-stuff. To get the full benefit of two pumps and two tanks, it's a bit more involved than just sticking them together...I think!

I hooked up a smaller one when I started sand blasting and the small one NEVER came on and it was actually set to come on at a lower pressure than my big one.
Well,as it turns out I didn't need it anyway. The big does the job by itself and actuallly "catches up" and rest for a minute! | | |
