A lot of the fiberglass fenders don't always fit that good. With a steel fender you can slice and dice and weld to fit. The procedure of doing that on fiberglass is a little trickier. An experienced body man working with fiberglass can make it happen. My choice is to always go with steel fenders. My buddy drives his '52 Chevy pick up year round in the snow and salt up here in Boston. He put fiberglass fenders on, so he'd have no worries with rot. The fenders don't look that great, but it's a daily work truck. From 20 feet away the fiberglass fenders look OK.

used all fiberglass fenders and running boards on my 37 and have never regretted it. I've been running mine since 2000 and NO problems. A couple companies out there make and sell them but my choice is R&R Fiberglass out of Tenn. 423-334-4455 Richard has been in business for many years and has good quality. Tell him ole Alvin said to give him a call.
You'd be surprised how many knowledgeable folks peck on my fenders and think they are steel....or can't seem to tell the differnce real easy. They fit and still look good.

Edit: I've used other fenders from R&R and always good quality.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

Im runnin glass rear fenders on my 52 an they fit GREAT!
I was suprised on how good they fit the contours at the runnin board junction.
For me it was lookin at double the price in labor to fix up my steel ones that BADLY messed up from my uncle the PO runnin chains in a snow storm that destroyed the lower rear sections.
Im pretty happy with my glass rear fenders.
Tim

I bought fibreglass rears for my panel. I couldn't find a good used pair in steel. They look good to me, will be putting them on this winter.

I bought a set of rears for my'40 from a place in Oregon. They didn't even come close to fitting correctly. To their credit, they took them back and gave a full refund. Quite a few on this board have recommended R&R Fibreglass. In the end, I was able to find a pair of used steel fenders that didn't need too much work.
At the end of the day, unless you are trying for a totally stock truck, I think good quality glass fenders are fine - many trucks and cars out there with glass parts.

All four of mine a glass and I am real happy with them. Steel is great if you can find them, but it all comes down to how much time you want to invest in looking. Joe
