Hello fellow Stovebolters! I new around here but not new to AD trucks. I finally got my 1951 1/2 ton truck after almost 15 years of searching. I picked it up from a co worker who was saving it for his 18 year old college bound son. But..his son didnt want it,he wanted a brand new F*** mustang. So, I got it for $1500 after being stored under a carport for 10 years! The carport really protected it from the hot, blazing Texas sun. It took me awhile to figure out what kind of engine I had since the previous owner didnt know either. I found out it has a 235 from the casting numbers on the block. The truck had an engine swap and a 12v conversion from the first owner. As far as the history of the truck,it spent most of its life hauling cattle in a ranch outside Brackettville,Texas. No major damage except for the floor boards are shot and so are cab corners. Next step is to figure out where to start!

51bombtruk: looks like you already got a good start!! AND, as you said, being under a carport sure helped the condition and probably saved you a lot of money!

If you plan to keep the guages original you may want to check out a post in the Electrical Forum. A guy there is planning to actually print the guage faces as original and it appears at a good price. (just a thought)

Oh, welcome to the bolt. You'll fit right in and with all your experience with AD's I'm sure you'll be a big help to me and others. Nice to have you. Pull up a chair and stay awhile.

There is lots of folks around from Texas and some of them have a get together. I'm sure you'll meet them and get to know them. Heck, you may be "right up the road" from some of them!!

That is a very nice truck that you picked up. It is a funny thing but mice seem to have such good taste in housing, don't they? We all look forward to your posts. Enjoy!

Yeah! They would go in through the rusted out cab corners(inner and outer) since thats the only openings the truck had.
