For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 1,132 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 1,132 | Took me 4 Saturdays to get the barn doors to fit anywhere good enough to satisfy me. Now I am trying to figure out how the door stops bolt to the body and the doors. No matter how I orient them I can't get them to look like the pics in the service manual. I got them off of a 51 panel in a junkyard and maybe they don't fit on a burb. Can anyone out there in Bolterland help out with advice or pics? Right is right, even if everyone is against it, and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it. - William Penn | | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,780 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,780 | Panels and Suburban door stops are definitely different.
Weeds, I sent you a picture of the two different styles. The panel stops allow the doors to open to the ninety degree position at the loading dock and the suburban stops will mount without messing with the headliner. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,517 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,517 | Hmmm, The ones ive seen,,,pnl. and sub. have been the same. 47-54. GMONIZ,,could you send me the diff. pics. also? It has a half-way stop and a full open stop (perhaps to allow backing up to a loading dock, etc). 1950-1955 Suburban rear panel-door stop. It stops at one position. (During Advance-Design years, rear panel-doors became available in 1950). I am definitely missing the stops on my 52panel. I've looked but they must have been gone a long time. You can tell it by looking at the hinges... AND my body man is suppose to do the door aligning thing si I guess I better post for the stops in the swap meet....
Man, I find something missing off that panel everyday. I must be crazy to keep going...... | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | these are TF panel complete - quite similar to the piece Tim shows as 47-55, GM did that sorta thing Bill | | | | | Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 1,132 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 1,132 | Marty, George, Bartamos, Tim and Alvin thanks for the replies. It looks like I have panel stops instead of burb stops. Using Marty's pics I think I can make the panel stops work on the burb. I'm going to try it. Let you guys know if it works out. Thanks.
