guys,

any of you have any tricks or cleaners i could use to get some stubborn water spots off the outside of my fornt wind shield ?

not sure if it is from well water, but its only on my wind shield, not my paint. i hate those spots and want to get rid of them.

Try some of that stuff you use to clean soap scum from the shower door.

WD-40?

One of the best window cleaners I have ever used is vinegar and water,about 75% water and 25% vinegar.

I have used straight vinegar. That is the same way I clean lime out of a coffee maker. It stinks, but it works. I would be careful not to get it on the paint. I'm not sure what it does to paint.

Along with the vinegar and water, you might try using old newspaper to wipe it away with, something about the printers ink and the vinegar. Also is pretty much streak free.

If all else fails, try an aerosol can of oven cleaner.
Just try not to get on paint, maybe safe, maybe not

Vinegar & water and a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser...water spots be gone!

Bar keepers friend works well on severe cases.

The newspaper really works. Use it with whatever you want but wipe it off with the newspaper. Nutty, but it works.

I was in the car clean up buisness many moons ago. We used a fine steel wool and glass cleaner to get the windows really clean. It seemed to work pretty good, I still use it now when I get waterspots and road grime on them.

inviseble glass cleaner by stoner worked for me . also try jewelers rouge with a small amount of water.

I had quite a time with my original back windows as it has been sitting outside for most of it's life. There were two products that helped. One is called ZUD. It comes in a container like Comet. It is really good for disolving marks from hard water. The other product is Autosol. It is marketed as a metal polish but it can do wonders on plastic and glass.

The newspaper works like 4000 grit sand paper that is absorbent. You will go thru a lot of newspaper. If we had the paper grocers bags in florida, that would work better.

I would not use oven cleaner as it will most likely remove your paint. The water quality in Florida is not great, so besides minerals, there is a high chlorine amount to kill the stuff that is in the water shed from the north.

Best window cleaner I have found is windex and newspaper. Follow that with 3 applications of Rain-X to minimize future spotting

well guys, i just tried about everything to get the water spots off my front windshield, and nothing worked.

i tried windex, rain-x, hydrogen peroxide, distilled vinegar, all with news paper, and they wont come off.

guess i will try the steel wool next, but will have to get to the store and buy some.

didn't see this b4 Len, but as someone who's worked with glass in different ways for decades, I have to say that water that's been sun dried on [dirty] glass leaves stains "burned" into the glass that can't be removed .... I discard bottles regularly cuz of that, and have lots of greenhouse glass with the same problem

I've had good luck over the years cleaning a variety of things with a PASTE of Comet cleanser. Wet a 3M nylon scrub pad and then shake a tablespoon of Comet powder on it and work it in with your finger. Then rub this directly on the spot, using liberal amounts of pressure on the sponge in a circular motion.

It may take a few trys, but it should remove the spots.

i kind of have a feeling that my spots are 'BURNED" into the glass, as bill states.
will try a few more things, then just have to live with it.

Just one more thought? If you look at tinted glass at a certain angle, and light you can see spots or blotches, maybe thats what your seeing? I've used real fine rubbing compound on glass.
