has anyone purchased and used the gauge decal kits from LMC or classic
parts? I am wondering if they are any good, or if I should spend the
extra money and have them re-screened?

52,
I bought decals and new glass from Jim Carters. The odometer was hard but I took it apart. I haven't drove the truck yet but turned the cable with a drill and it worked. There is a picture of restored gauges here. and some of the exploded odometer starts here. Maybe this will help. Have fun and good luck

rusted52: the guage kits are well worth the money. I used a set from JimCarter on my AD guages and I also used a set of the decals from Carter on my 37 pickup which has been 8 years ago and they still look real nice.

I do caution you to be sure nothing is on the guage face and don't let anything stick on the back of the decal before you apply them. A small speck will show when its smoothed down.

Also most AD guage decals come with TWO oil pressure decals. One that goes to 30 and one that goes to 60lb. Also mine had TWO decals for the temp. One that goes to 212 and one that goes to 220 degree.....depending on what engine you use ect.

Dan, I checked out your pictures and have a question. Did you buy the glass for your gages already printed from Jim Carter or did you apply them on your own piece of glass?

The reason I ask is that the lettering looks a little low to me. On my 46 the MPH numbers are above the rim of the spedo opening, and the Oil, Temp, Battery & Gas graphics are even with the openings for those gages. looks like your glass has slpped down. Is that possible?

The rest of the dash looks fantastic.

The bezel in the picture is installed upside down. Thats what causes the lettering on the glass to appear lower then it should be. You can really see it when crusing through the pictures here out of the dash. Its always the dorky little things like this that make things more aggravating for me. blush
