I got the rearend and torque tube installed over the weekend and continue to reassemble everything else piece by piece. The truck in my driveway! I'm still trying to get it "finished" for a show in late September. Time is flying and I'm coming to the realization that it takes quite a bit to put an entire truck togehter. You would've thought I knew that since it took me 7+ years to take it apart! I posted tons of new photos on my web page! Check it out! 46chevytruck.com Tim

though they didnt come with them there is a bunch of heat there.philip I payed for the insulation kit from Jim Carter's. It was a tough one to swallow but; i'll tell you what it was a GREAT kit. All precut with very little trimming needed and all the dynamat that I needed (with the exception of mat for the inside of the door panels). With the cost of plane old dynamat sheets, I can;t imagine that there is a lot of mark-up (especially when you use the various discounts throughout the year).

Enamel or bb/cc?
Keith This was a tough decision. I went into it with the thinking that I would go with an enamel but after several conversations with the painter I was swayed over to the more modern side and went with PPG base and clear. While I know that it is not as original and it is glossier than it ever would have even had the potential to be back then, I am really happy with the results and would do it again.

It is really amazing how many small parts that you end up finding out that you need. The little things are killing me and nickle and dimeing me. A special bolt here and a special bracket there....then a fitting that has to be special ordered. It is killing me.
I dropped off my grille (upper and lower) a couple weeks ago. They should have it done by the 17th. WOW - what a shocker there. They gave me two options Chrome or show chrome. the difference came in the attention to detail they pay to the sides of each bar. the regular job $750 for top and bottom grilles does not polish the sides of each bar - only the front. For $1000 that is the show chrome where special attention is paid to all angles of the grille making all sides reflect real nicely off of each other.
That just kills me. As I seem to have done all the way through this one I went with the show chrome. I'll get photos out there when I get it back. I would hate to see what a grille set would cost that needed work. My upper was NOS and the lower was used but came off a fire truck that spent most of its life indoors.
I have lots of work to get done in the next three weeks if i am to be ready for the Beloit Autorama in September!@!!!. Hopefully I won't have too many small suprises left.

How about you having someone video your "FIRST" ride and post a link to it here on Stovebolt?? Be sure to have that person ZOOM in on all those great details you labored over! You are a very patient person and without a doubt have one of, IF NOT THE FINEST, Stovebolts in the country!!
