I did some research and found them the best all around. They were easy to deal with, agreed to value and the best price. Do some checking and I think you'll see alot of people satisfied with them. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 | Guess I am one of the luckier ones on the insurance deal. I have both of my collector vehicles insured with my regular agent. Agreed value, and limited usage. For me it was much cheaper going this way. Why dont you talk with the same people who insure your regular drivers, house, etc.Of course I dont use the older ones as dailey drivers.I also have them registered as historical vehicles, which also restricts the use. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 677 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 677 | Tim, I went with http://www.heacockclassic.com/site/ They were super easy to deal with, all they wanted was a couple of pictures... We agreed to a value AND the price was right. Todd Some people are like Slinkies, Their not really good for nothing... I have Continental Western. It's an agreed value policy I got though my local agent. It does have mileage limitations and I have to have a garage but it's pretty cheap. Full coverage at $20K value for $120 per year.

4) Is my car covered while parked outside or left unattended? Underwriters will want to know that you take extraordinary care of your collector car and will require that you have a garage for it when it is not in use. However, leaving a car unattended or in the driveway overnight is not the basis for denying a claim. Insurance Companies and their policies are carefully regulated by 50 separate state Insurance Departments to protect you from unclear, hidden, or fine print exclusions.
looks like they require a garage. how the heck did you get around that waldo ? i want to know. LOL.

They rejected my initial application because they don't insure vehicles with "rust". I asked the rep then how clients do they really have. Even some of the new vehicles that we use as daily drivers have rust.
Finally, got to a manager and he said that that was incorrect. Sent him the application back with payment and we got the deal done.
The best news is that there is no mileage limit and no keeping track. Good price as well-----$100 for the year with agreed value at $10,000.
Hope this helps,

I have not had any good luck with any of the several I've inquired about. They don't like my truck because its modified, or limited to parades, mileage limitations but I could probably live with that. In the past 30 days I checked with HeacockClassic and they were higher than State Farm. It depends on LOTS of factors. For me it was just a few dollars more to STAY with State Farm. Since I have multicar discount, my home is with them, I'm accident free, and a special bonus of 15% discount because I've been with them for many many years I have not found anyone that can beat their rates based on MY records ect.... They did require I take it to one of "their approved" appraisers. He appraised it and did not charge me anything and its insured for 20K. Best thing to do is what we most of us do....ask a lot of questions and several of many companies. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,464 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,464 | Leonard; I saw that on the website too and gave up on them. Went with another ins. co. for about $650/year. I was at the Goodguy's show here a couple of years ago and there was a booth that said "Classic Car Insurance" or something like that so my wife and I talked to the guy. He was an agent for Grundy's. I mentioned I didn't have a garage but did have a carport and our area is secure. He said he'd see if they would underwrite it, and they did.
So, I think you need to find an agent and go through him, not deal directly with Grundy on the web.
Good luck, hopefully you can save some $$$. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,082 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,082 | thanks waldo. see, i dont even have a car port, so that is gonna be a problem im sure. i will keep checking around. leonard | | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 | Well I do have a garage to keep it in, Allstate(I have everything through them) hooked me up with a local Appraiser that i am waiting for an appt. with ...will get his 2 pennies, Allstate will write a policy through Hagerty's ...will see what that costs ..and compare to what Grundy's gets back to me on.
